Dyson Supersonic Diffuser attachments

dyson hair diffuser

It comes with a diffuser that magnetically attaches to the nozzle of the dryer. “I absolutely love the diffuser attachment with the Dyson blow dryer because of the long prongs and how it dries the hair evenly,” says Almanzar. If this review is any indication, yes the Dyson Supersonic is worth the investment. In my opinion, it’s one of those devices that you never tire of; not to mention, the brand continues to innovate its uses through expanded attachments, most which can be purchased à la carte. For a professional, or someone who dries hair very often, this is a must thanks to its minimal heat and level of customization to any hair type. If you’re one to air dry and style, perhaps just do the Dyson Airwrap instead—an equally, if not more, sought-after tool that boasts the more specific drying and styling capabilities you might be looking for.

First of all, the snap onto the dryer easily, like a magnet, and never fall off during styling—not even when my hair gets tangled. Secondly, there seems to be an attachment for virutally any use case—from smoothing flyaways and frizz to defining curls to combing through thick tresses. I’m often asked for my Dyson Supersonic hair dryer review IRL. When my friend sees me blowing out my curls before my braids appointment.

While this hair dryer is relatively small as it is, the handle folds down to further shrink its footprint. It has dual voltage, multiple speed and heat settings, and comes with a 6-inch diffuser, which is smaller than the  8-inch version that Curlsmith typically offers, according to the brand. The dryer, which has a 5.0-star rating from 47 reviews at Sephora, also comes with a storage bag.

Disperses air evenly around your ringlets, helping to reduce frizz. When we first got word in 2016 that Dyson—then known for vacuums and fans—was entering the beauty space, we called in the device immediately. Since, our team has been testing it on a range of styles and hair types.

“Hair dryers can be heavy, inefficient, and make a racket…they can also cause extreme heat damage to hair,” James Dyson, the British inventor and founder of the brand, said in a press release. Start by aiming the diffuser downward, in the direction of the hair shaft, says O’Connor. By aiming the airflow in a single direction, it helps keep the cuticle of the hair — and your hair itself — smooth. But of course Dyson isn’t content to let a good invention stand without improvement.

Diffusers are especially useful for people with curly hair, since, by evenly dispersing (and slowing) the force of air, they can dry waves, curls and coils without affecting their shape and definition. Plus, depending on how you use your diffuser, this attachment can also boost volume and enhance texture. The first senses how close the dryer is to your head via invisible infrared beam and adapts the air temperature to keep the effective heat on your head and scalp even as you move the dryer closer and further away. The pause detect capability, meanwhile, automatically deactivates the heat and decreases airflow and noise when you’re between styling passes. And for every attachment, the dryer also remembers your last used heat setting and adjusts accordingly as you change up the pieces. From my experience, the various attachments are the most enticing feature of the Supersonic.

The Curly Co. Collapsible Hair Diffuser

I gravitate towards the wide-tooth comb attachment to work through my thick, curly mane with ease—quicker than any other drier I’ve tested. The Supersonic hair dryer, plus the seven attachments, are what you get for about $430 year-round; however, in an effort to simplify its offering—this year Dyson unveiled the Supersonic Origin. Say you don’t want all the frills of the traditional set or would like another dryer for travel, you can get the dryer with just the styling concentrator at a fraction of the cost.

Defined curls and waves

Be realistic about your hair care regimen to determine what’ll get you the most bang for your buck. Because it’s designed to prevent overheating, I don’t experience any scalp sensitivities or hair that’s literally hot to the touch. Meaning, I can work speedily without feeling like I’m burning myself. (In my opinion, the actual tool doesn’t get too hot either.) Despite its powerful motor, the Supersonic is relatively quiet. Celebrity hairstylist Graham Nation agrees, “When working with clients, I love to be able to hold a conversation and still give an amazing blowout,” he previously told Vogue. For what it’s worth, hairstylist Erinn Courtney and Los Angeles–based hairstylist known as Jay Artistry are also fans of the device—namechecking it as the best hair dryer of 2023.

When my mom is shocked to know I can still talk to her on the phone despite the hum of the dryer. The original Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer came out in 2016 and revolutionized the hair care market as the fastest, quietest, smartest, and, arguably, most stylishly designed hair dryer out there. As a beauty editor, I’ve been happily using the same one ever since — and it’s still performing just as well, even after much use (and being dropped many, many times).

On April 24, I previewed the new, most advanced version of the brand’s hair dryer yet, called the Nural Supersonic, which will be available to purchase in May. While I wouldn’t consider the Dyson Supersonic to be heavy (it weighs 1.8 lbs), it can get a little uncomfortable if you’re styling for a while. I wouldn’t call that a con, but it in my book it is something worth noting. Just choose your desired settings, snap your attachments into place, and go.

The Diffuser simulates natural drying, helping to reduce frizz while defining curls and waves. Long prongs allow you to style more hair with greater control, reaching every strand. The Dyson Supersonic has a slim profile and light weight (clocking in at 1.8 pounds) that makes it easier to pack than the typical hair dryer.

You can either find a collapsible diffuser, which folds into a flat, round shape, or opt for a sock diffuser, which is made of a soft, foldable material. Some also prefer to use the attachments that come included when you buy a travel hair dryer. If you’ve ever owned a hair dryer, there’s a good chance you’ve encountered a diffuser attachment before. Diffuser attachments are round, claw-like pieces that fit onto the nozzle of a hair dryer and, spread out any air emitted from the blow dryer. This allows for a gentler and more even airflow than what you might get from the nozzle alone.

Below, we compiled the travel diffusers that experts use to style their clients’ hair on the road. We also include travel hair dryers that come with diffuser attachments, since these often have more bells and whistles, like cool-shot buttons and multiple heat settings, than your average hotel dryer. (Plus, there’s no guarantee that a dryer will necessarily be available wherever you’re traveling.) For that reason, we included recommendations for both. Re-engineered to disperse air more evenly around your curls, the Diffuser simulates natural drying, helping to reduce frizz and define curls and waves. Longer prongs allow you to style more hair with greater control – and reach deeper into the hair. If the size of a standard diffuser is too large for your luggage, then you have two options, according to experts we spoke with.

However, diffusers’ round, thick shape can make them bulky, so they may be particularly troublesome to travel with. Some are even designed to fit only on dedicated hair dryers, which is why finding a portable option can be helpful. With that in mind, we asked hairstylists to share their picks for travel diffusers that’ll give you healthy, shiny curls wherever, whenever.

Post shampoo and conditioner, spritz on a healthy dosage of heat protectant along with your favorite stylers. For example, Oribe’s Royal Blowout Heat Styling Spray looks to repair split ends before your blowout, while Briogeo’s cream minimizes frizz and locks in moisture. Once hair is dry, complete your look with the Airwrap styler or the Corrale hair straightener. A drop of 14th Night’s lightweight oil or Kenra’s volumizing hair spray.

That said, the wattage (which measures the power of the dryer and influences the drying time) will differ between hotels, travel dryers, and your usual, at-home hair dryer. “Most travel dryers aren’t as powerful as an at-home dryer, so it may take a bit longer than normal to diffuse your hair,” says Meri Kate O’Connor, a hair colorist at Benjamin Salon in West Hollywood, CA. The larger the diffuser, the more evenly it can disperse air — and the faster your hair dries. However,  “compact or collapsible diffusers may have a smaller diffusing area,” says Almanzar. “This could slightly compromise the overall styling effect compared to standard-sized diffusers.” It’s ultimately the tradeoff for being able to easily transport a diffuser.

Using a hair dryer with a powerful airflow, can inadvertently cause frizz, so the diffuser also minimizes frizz and flyaways and delivers a smoother, shinier appearance to curls. The material of your diffuser is also important to consider when shopping. Some are made of silicone, which allow the base of the diffuser to fit over any nozzle size. Others are made of plastic; the advantage here is that these typically have prongs throughout, which grip and lift the hair while you diffuse, improving volume and texture. At this point, you can go in and start scrunching your hair with your hands, moving the diffuser around the hair and placing your curls in the bowl of the diffuser until they’re fully dry. For instance, if you’re looking for volume, you can flip your head upside down or tilt it to the right or left while aiming your diffuser upwards, says Santiago.

New restaurants and pop-ups to try in Los Angeles this May Los Angeles Times

“I love you and always will, no matter where you are,” he wrote. “Nothing and nobody can change that.” His affirmation was simple. It allowed her to release some of the debilitating shame and gather herself for what she would have to endure. In 2013, she arrived at the W.N.B.A. draft in a gleaming white custom-made three-piece suit. When the Mercury selected her with the No.1 draft pick, even though she knew it was coming, a shy grin touched her lips. Her boldness set a new standard, helping to normalize queerness in American sports, especially for women.

Thankfully, we have Addison to guide us toward the best of the best. Our signature items include the Apple Pancake, a single large pancake smothered with sautéed apples and cinnamon sugar baked to perfection, to create a deliciously rich cinnamon sugar glaze. In the morning, she writes, she was taken to an examination room, where a man who said he was a doctor stood with seven armed guards.

In 2025, the W.N.B.A. will have the opportunity to renegotiate player contracts. It’s a chance to advocate new pay structures, maternity support, a bigger percentage of revenue generated by licensing games to networks and streaming platforms and more security. “I’ve always talked about that, but I’m seeing it more now,” Griner told me. Afterward, she was driven to a plane and boarded, though she had no idea where it was going.

Her wife usually packed her bags, loading them with American staples like candy, Sweet Baby Ray’s barbecue sauce, pancake mix and Creole seasoning. This time, Cherelle organized only the big roller bags, leaving Griner responsible for her carry-ons. When Griner finally got up, she didn’t clear them out and repack them. Instead, she hurriedly shoved in her essentials, a Nintendo Switch, a few pairs of underwear and sweatpants and her laptop. On May 7, Griner will publish her memoir “Coming Home,” written with Michelle Burford, documenting her harrowing ordeal in Russia and her return home. The book is brutal, rendering in excruciating detail the conditions of her imprisonment and the fear and desperation that consumed her daily.

The law that takes effect on July 1 bans junk fees commonly seen in ticket sales. But on Tuesday, the state attorney general reportedly confirmed that also applies to restaurant service fees. A new California law aimed at banning hidden service fees could eliminate the surcharges some restaurants add to customer bills. As they passed each other, he reached for a handshake, and she instinctively complied. His hands were soft compared with her roughened ones; later she heard that he spent his time in prison painting pictures of cats. In early July, Cherelle was interviewed by Gayle King to raise awareness, noting that Griner’s team had yet to meet with the Biden administration.

Fresh Whipped Cream

She was too wired to sleep and too scared to eat, afraid of being poisoned. As she disembarked, she was greeted by Roger Carstens, the special presidential envoy for hostage affairs in the State Department. He handed her a pin that read “We Are BG.” Griner exhaled, allowing relief to sink in for the first time. As she walked onto the tarmac, a man walked toward her. She recognized him as Viktor Bout, the notorious Russian arms dealer for whom she had been traded.

Griner spent her childhood in the Bellewood section of Houston. She was close to her older sister and her two older half siblings from her father’s previous marriage. In her 2014 memoir, “In My Skin,” Griner describes a comfortable but constrained childhood. By middle school, she towered over her classmates and felt like an outcast. Kids called her “freak.” They antagonized her for her height, her undeveloped chest, her deepening voice.

Hours

She wanted to try to shape the narrative, to remind the people in Russia and back home that her story went beyond a single mistake. Griner thought constantly about her family — her wife’s well-being, her parents’ growing frailty. She struggled to write to her father, fearing his disappointment. When she finally did, she said she would “never let you down like this again.” Weeks later, she received his unequivocal reply.

To relieve her stress, Griner picked up the habit of smoking cigarettes, up to a pack a day. At one point, her Russian team donated a basketball so she could shoot on a hoop in the prison yard, but she kept getting winded. She lost muscle mass and gained weight from commissary staples — packaged noodles, muffins, salami, condensed milk — that felt safer to eat than the fish porridge. She felt depressed, and even sit-ups in her cell felt beyond her capacity. Less than two years ago, Griner was starting her nine-year sentence in a penal colony in Russia, sewing uniforms for the Russian military and subsisting on spoiled food. She lived for glimpses of the sky, which she could see only through weathered rebar when the guards took prisoners outside.

In the acknowledgments of her book, Griner thanks Black women in the press for keeping her name alive throughout her detainment. Her father, who worked in law enforcement, governed the household with a severity rooted in paranoia. She was to come straight home after school, her play limited to the yard. She also inherited his stubbornness — refusing to bend to his tough punishments and judgments of her. Their best moments together were in the yard or the garage, cutting grass or fixing the family cars.

Before we parted ways, Griner told me that going into nature — she loves off-roading in the dusty red mountains — has been one of her coping mechanisms. Before her ordeal in Russia, she didn’t need time away from people, to ground herself. “That’s a big thing for me — getting away from the screens and the cameras,” she said. “It feels like time slows down when I’m in nature.” She’s learning about the value of carving out a private identity. Not every part of her existence has to be an example or a cause.

In an interview, the basketball star reveals her humiliation — and friendships — in Russian prison, and her path to recovery. Diners in San Francisco often think twice when they see a common line at the bottom of their menu warning of a mandatory service charge that can run anywhere between 4% to 20%. April showers bring May flowers — at least that’s what Angelenos are hoping for. After two years of record rain, we’re ready for the dry Mediterranean climate our region is known for, along with all of the typical seasonal activities. Franchised restaurants are independently owned and operated. Their lunch and dinner food sounded delicious too but I was there for breakfast.

In Russia, she journaled in the margins of her Bible and a Sudoku book, but the details are also seared in her mind. “I will never forget any of it,” she told me, enunciating each word to make her point. The other incarcerated women brought photos of their kids for her to sign, which she did. During the 2022 W.N.B.A. All-Star Game, the players wore Griner’s jersey number in solidarity during the second half. N.B.A. players like LeBron James and Stephen Curry publicly questioned what seemed like the U.S. government’s inaction on the case. But her most devoted and persistent advocates were Black women, many of them arguing online that the government’s response felt muted, a continuation of the culture of neglect that fails to adequately protect them and gender-nonconforming people. Kerry Washington and Roxane Gay campaigned for her in the American media. Thousands sent Griner messages of support in prison.

The world got its first glimpse of the imprisoned Griner on July 1, 2022, nearly five months after her arrest, when she arrived in court in Moscow for the start of her trial. In photos and videos, she looked stunned, eyes unnaturally wide. Griner had always understood that she was well known in Russia — some guards had even asked her for photographs and autographs — but she didn’t grasp the scale of her case until that moment. There were nearly 100 journalists present, shouting questions and snapping photographs; it reminded her of the media circus around the N.B.A. Finals. "The restaurants you go into and you feel like you're part of, that restaurant it's kind of secondary," he said of the added fees. "I want your employees to do well. I think as long as restaurants maintain that of really knowing their customers, I think they're going to do okay."

For each slide, a good rule of thumb is to convey just enough information for the reader to understand what’s going on and use a neutral color palette. By using a black and white color palette and using a bold choice of color, you can bring attention where it is needed and create a strong focal point for your viewer. One common mistake we see in presentation design is the failure to use color contrast to make your text pop. As you can see, by simply decreasing the size of the design elements and without changing anything else, we were able to achieve a more minimal and professional-looking slide. Negative space, or white space, is your best friend when it comes to making a visually appealing presentation slide.

That is why I think that this presentation example from In a Rocket is so powerful because they make the information easy to digest. But I also think that when used correctly, like in this example, plain white backgrounds can lead to beautiful presentations. Like in this marketing presentation from Constant Contact they are very large but do not distract from the content. However, when it comes to presentations I think that the simple table is best.

design presentation

This rule keeps your presentation concise and prevents information overload. If they have questions or concerns, address them with genuine interest and respect. Your responsiveness builds rapport and shows that you genuinely care about their experience. Positive body language instantly captivates your audience, making them believe in your message as much as you do.

If you take a look at this business presentation template, you will see that they number the steps in a process and track which step they’re on at the bottom of the slides. There were only five colors used in the entire presentation and the graphics were simple line drawings. If you are looking to get a lot of eyes on your presentation I would make sure people will want to share it on social media. This means your content needs to answer a common question and your design needs to be clutter-free.

The purpose of Friday’s event was to provide “shapes of where things might be able to go” based on the center’s intentions, Virgin said. This will be achieved by hosting a range of events and a variety of interests in the center, including fashion shows, product launches, book fairs and music events. The center is in the “very early stages” of the design process, said Antoine Chaaya, the partner in charge of the Renzo Piano Building Workshop, during an unveiling of the design at the Boca Raton Museum of Art. The first designs for the Boca Raton Center for Arts and Innovation, an arts-oriented destination planned for the city’s burgeoning downtown, were revealed Friday. The Pacific Design Center, or PDC, is a 1,600,000-square-foot (150,000 m2) multi-use facility for the design community in West Hollywood, California. One of the buildings is often described as the Blue Whale because of its large size relative to surrounding buildings and its brilliant blue glass cladding.

Coveted for its ideal location, generous floor plans, exceptional amenities and responsive management, Pacific Design Center is the choice showroom location preferred by today’s leading manufacturers of best-in-class design. With a 12 million square-foot real estate portfolio and a belief that great architecture and design transform a development project as a work of art, CBRC approaches each asset with a long-term view focusing on creating and maintaining properties that will shape skylines. Cohen Brothers Realty Corporation (CBRC) is a private real estate development and management firm with more than 50 years of success developing, redeveloping and operating premier properties in prime locations in major U.S. markets. PDC boasts a collection of the world’s best luxury brands and most innovative custom designs assuring best-in-class association, as defined by a sampling of marquis corporate showrooms. In Boca Raton alone, the arts generates $25 million and support more than 600 jobs — numbers that are expected to “grow exponentially with the new Center for Arts and Innovation,” said Jennifer Sullivan, the senior vice president of marketing and programs for the Palm Beach County Cultural Council.

Responding to the growing consumer demand for access to exclusive designer products, the Pacific Design Center allows design enthusiasts exclusive entry to procure luxury furnishings from our to-the-trade Design Center showrooms. When the project’s architect, Renzo Piano, was announced in September, the total cost for the project was not public, and it remained that way on Friday. So far, the center has been in the works for six years, and it is currently employing a long-term land lease with the city on the site where it will be built, right where the current amphitheater is. The next six months will involve receiving feedback from city officials any other people or groups who could be impacted by the center. The ultimate goal of the design is to create a “collision of activity,” said Joshua Dachs, the project’s theatre and spatial planner.

According to the center’s website, it will generate more than $1 billion in economic impact and support more than 12,000 jobs. Andrea Virgin, the center’s chairperson and CEO, envisions the center as an anchor in South Florida, transforming Boca Raton into a premier destination. The interior of one floor of the Blue Whale, and the escalators of the same building, are used extensively as the underground workshops for the Westworld TV series.

The campus is further energized by hosting more than 200 special events, trade markets, art exhibitions, conferences, fundraisers, film and television shoots, movie screenings and premieres each year. At the heart of CBRC’s design center management philosophy is a commitment to partnership marketing. We work collaboratively with our showroom-partners developing programs and platforms that support their unique selling needs. Engaging the finest talents in the design and real estate industries, CBRC provides responsive on-site sales, marketing and operations management powered by years of experience, carefully cultivated contacts and specialized knowledge to support showroom success while increasing revenue and driving long-term profitability. Offering an array of opportunities that extend brand message, enhance visibility and drive sales, PDC provides showrooms with an arsenal of marketing programs to engage with preferred design professionals and affluent consumers of designer home furnishings. Within the PDC community our showrooms enjoy a collaborative, integrated culture through association with the industry’s most powerful brands.

Whether you need design consultation, tile samples or more, our knowledgeable design professionals are here to support you every step of the way. PDC leverages its relationships with top design and lifestyle editors and bloggers among 100+ regional and national trade/consumer media, advancing relevant editorial opportunities for products, showrooms, trends and industry events among print, broadcast and online outlets. PDC’s website provides a searchable database to source individual showroom pages featuring company overview, visuals, contact info, product listings and hotlinks. Additionally, the site offers a calendar of events, news and information postings, social media links, newsletter archive and designer referral services. Renowned as the region’s time-honored luxury resource, PDC has long delivered a critical depth and breadth of offerings crucial to every aspect of the design process.

We do not distribute printable chord and lyrics charts. These charts are here only to support online learning. We highly recommend buying music from Hal Leonard or a reputable online sheet music store. The term “campfire song” is generally used to refer to a familiar old song that folks can sing along with to a simple guitar accompaniment. But the tunes we cover in this series extend beyond the repertoire of well-fed cowboys on the open range. Regardless of whether you’re indoors or out, or how you cook your dinner, we call them campfire songs.

Lyrics:

While the basic melody was nailed down pretty early, the accompanying chords have seen a lot of variations along the way. The earliest recordings of the song—like Clarence Ashley and Gwen Foster’s 1933 “Rising Sun Blues” and Woody Guthrie’s version from 1941—were generally in Appalachian folk or bluesy styles. Among my favorite other interpretations are Josh White’s brooding solo take and Ronnie Gilbert’s jazzy three-piece arrangement with the Weavers. In this House of the Rising Sun guitar chord chart, we are going to take a look at a fantastic song by the Animals. This song you can use either a strumming pattern or a picking pattern.

- Digital Sheet Music

house of the rising sun guitar chords

The song is in 6/8 time—that’s six eighth notes per bar, counted, “One, two, three, four, five, six.” If you are not familiar with this meter, play along with the video to get a good sense of how it feels. I like to play the song with a flatpick, mixing things up with strums and single notes, as transcribed in the first eight measures. You could keep things even simpler and go with straight strumming throughout, or use a basic fingerpicking pattern—whatever works best for you. This selection, “House of the Rising Sun,” is cautionary tale of things gone wrong in New Orleans.

los angeles to mexico cruise

Between its beaches, aquatic parks and vibrant art scene, Puerto Vallarta’s varied landscapes offer adventures for all. On a Mexico cruise, wander through the city’s galleries, and sample tequila alongside handmade tortillas and salsa. Or stroll along the seafront Malecon boardwalk – the city’s premier shopping destination — where mementos, margaritas and Mexican buffets await. Take the kids to swim with dolphins or horseback riding through the foothills of the Sierra Madre.

Setting Sail From LA

Mexico might be right down there, but it exists in another world entirely. Experience a whole enchilada’s worth of rich culture and fun on a cruise to Mexico. Each port — including favorites Cozumel, Cabo San Lucas and Puerto Vallarta — contributes its own distinct local flavor to the mix. In just three nights, Royal Caribbean's Navigator of the Seas sails from Los Angeles to Ensenada, Mexico, and back. Of course, you could just spend your entire sea day lounging around on the pool deck eating Johnny Rockets and sipping on colorful cocktails.

With just one day here, I wasted no time and headed straight for one of the most popular attractions in Ensenada, called La Bufadora. The marine geyser or blowhole has water shooting 100 above sea level. The views are so impressive, with rock formations along the coast that make the perfect backdrop for frame-worthy photos. Before setting sail back to LA, I strolled down Ensenada's gorgeous malecón. Nothing beats having the ocean on full display while lively vendors sell everything from elotes to sombreros to the tune of the beautiful local music.

If you’re looking to touch grass at sea and sample the best of the Mexican Riviera, the Celebrity Solstice is for you. This is a ship with a cool vibe, a sophisticated feel, and lots of fun things to do on board. The ship is also home to more than 200 solar panels and generates some of its own electricity. Arriving in Los Angeles a few days before my cruise, I started my getaway in the heart of Hollywood.

Long Beach (Los Angeles)

The Norwegian Bliss made its debut in 2018, and its entertainment offerings include a two-level racetrack, Broadway shows, laser tag, mini golf and a casino. The ship has a private 18 and over beach club and a spa with both a salt room and a snow room. It was the perfect way to cap off my short, but busy stint in LA.
